Ardmore, Okla. (May 22, 2023) – The Southern Oklahoma Board of REALTORS® reported on residential sales activity for Love, Carter and Murray counties for the month of April. The average sales price for April 2023 was $164,989 with 98 new listings for the month.
“Average sales prices for the Southern Oklahoma area have decreased 17 percent from April 2022,” said Todd Yeager, SOBR 2023 President. “Median sales price for local housing has also decreased, which is consistent with national reports.”
Properties remained on the market for an average of 34 days in April, down from 55 days in March. The number of closed listings in April 2023 was 58.
"Home sales are bouncing back and forth but remain above recent cyclical lows," said National Association of REALTORS® Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. "The combination of job gains, limited inventory and fluctuating mortgage rates over the last several months have created an environment of push-pull housing demand."
According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.39 percent as of May 18. That's up from 6.35 percent from the previous week.
